Compassion is able to make a difference in Kaysha’s life
because of our partnership with the local church.
Let’s see what the church in Kaysha’s neighborhood
is doing to help her and other children in her community.
The Compassion center is just a 5-minute walk from Kaysha’s house.
She attends activities there twice a week.
Her grandmother walks with her and a few of her friends
to make sure they get there safely.
When children come to the center,
they are greeted by caring adults who know their names.
They receive a meal
and learn how to keep their bodies healthy.
Children receive regular medical and dental checkups.
They learn that Jesus loves them
and has a good plan for their lives.
The center is a safe place
to make friends, play games, and have fun.
Children also receive tutoring
to help them do well in school.
As they grow, they learn life skills and take classes
that prepare them for the future.
Tutors, project directors and center staff at the local church
are making a difference in their communities
by serving children, identifying needs
and working on solutions to meet those needs.
Compassion and our church partners
are committed to seeing children grow healthy and strong
in their bodies, minds, and spiritual lives.

“Compassion has truly played a very important role in my life. If I hadn’t had the opportunity to do the English, electronics or computer science courses, maybe I wouldn’t have started studying the career I’m studying.”

- Junior, Compassion graduate

“My sponsors impacted my life. I received letters just when I needed them, with the words I needed to read. They always told me that they loved me, that they valued me. Compassion provided all the tools so that I could be empowered physically, emotionally, and cognitively so that I could achieve success and break the cycle of poverty.”

- Katerine, Compassion graduate

"Compassion guided me and took me from the bad things I was doing to the man I have become. All the good things I now know, the passion to serve the Lord and the love I have for people, I learned here at the center. If I had not been part of Compassion, my life would still be surrounded by chaos, and I might even be dead by now.”

- Oscar, Compassion graduate

“When we found out that we would have a new bathroom [paid for by Compassion], I jumped at the chance to be happy and excited. The house was full of excitement.”

- Nataly, 13

“I love children and what I love the most about this ministry is how we treat them and how intentionally we are guiding them as they grow based in the Word of God. Compassion is a huge blessing, not only for our community but for our country.”

- Martha Pozo, tutor

“My parents didn’t study, but my tutor, Ceilin, was a professional, and I wanted to be like her. The love she showed me and the way she motivated me to move forward was essential to me. She taught me how to think. I don’t know where I would be without the support of Compassion. My tutor’s motivation was the foundation to become the man that I am now. Compassion gave me the best things I’ve ever had. They gave me love, hope and the opportunity to dream and overcome.”

- Jose Frank, Compassion graduate
